Big things start small

A journey from a village school to a celebrated institution.

Sishu Griha grew from a founder's belief in the Montessori method — first tested in a village school, then offered to urban children in 1978.

1959

Yenkay established by Mr. N. Krishnan, a pioneer in the auto-ancillary industry.

1973

The Yenkay Rural Education and Welfare Society was incorporated.

1974–78

The founder introduced the Montessori method at the village school.

1978

Mr. N. Krishnan and our first Principal, Mrs. Sunanda Naganad, started a Montessori school for urban children. Thus Sishu Griha was born.

1988–89

Yenkay Rural became the Yenkay Education Society.

1990–91

Mr. K. Sunderrajan becomes President; Mrs. Sujatha Mohandas is appointed.

1995

Expansion into High School, with curriculum design and the introduction of “Dynamic Science”.

2000–01

The school relocated to New Thippasandra.

2003

The first batch of Std X (SSLC).

2004

Workrooms created for primary classes; an integrated syllabus implemented.

2005

Permanent affiliation awarded by ICSE; the Montessori Workroom introduced.

2006

Silver Jubilee celebrated; Mrs. Mohandas appointed Principal.

2007–10

Smartboards, international recognition and student exchange programmes.

2011–2023

Continuous expansion — a new junior campus, completion of the senior school, and numerous academic awards and achievements.
